The Goodness of God

God is good all the time – and all the time God is good! I hope everyone echo these words on God’s goodness from their mouths repeatedly. God’s mercies are new every morning, His goodness is great, His compassion never ceases. His love is so glorious and He is all that we need and we are looking for in this life. His goodness is not like physical goods that you can count and no one can even afford to keep an inventory of His goods. God always sends good things to us His children and many times we experience His blessings overflow. The Lord fills us with good things in our lives every single day.  However, most of us dwell on the fizzles and failures that we face in our daily lives which then glare our view in experiencing God’s goodness or even comprehending it. The people who know and trust God’s goodness will agree what the Lord says in Exodus 33: 19 – “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you.” It is very important for all of us to believe in those words because it is God’s promise to us all. I really want God’s goodness to pass in front of me everywhere I go and everywhere I am. The Lord continues to say, “I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

The goodness of God follows us everywhere we go. Sometimes ‘good’ things do happen to us and then we will hold our ‘feelings’ responsible on how we felt at the time. Most of us might say, I had a ‘gut feeling’ that things will be good. I ‘cross my fingers’ that things will turn out good. I wish myself ‘luck’ that I will win that race and there are many other clichés that we use related to goodness. But, we fail to recognize the goodness of God and to know that God is still at work in our lives. He is still a God of miracles. Out of the goodness of God, He delivers us from all our troubles, from all the obstacles that we face in life. Out of His goodness, His love keeps on following us bundled up with forgiveness and topped up with new mercies. He is always welcoming us into His presence with fullness of joy. Even when one soul makes his or her way into His kingdom there is always rejoicing and more goodness given.

The goodness of God makes me feel good and look good and I know that when I call upon Him, He will always answer me and I remain confident that I will always see and experience the goodness of the Lord. God is faithful and He keeps His word. His promises are yah and Amen and I will keep on trusting the goodness of God. Let’s all trust Him, for He is good!
